Questions about Vetra

Current information about availability, accounts, security, calls, and downloads.

Availability and accounts

Is Vetra available to download?

Vetra is still in development and does not have a public release to download yet. Check the Downloads section for updates. Download buttons appear only when the official release information and file links pass the site's checks.

Can I create an account or host my own server?

This website does not offer sign-up. To sign in and keep messages, the desktop app needs a compatible Vetra server. Vetra does not currently offer public self-hosting, and the server's source code is not public.

Which platforms and features are in development?

The desktop app is being built for Windows and Linux. The current development version includes direct chats, group spaces, text channels, polls, reactions, and media and file sharing. These features are still being developed and may not be available in a public release. See the homepage feature summary.

Security and calls

Are Vetra messages end-to-end encrypted?

Vetra does not provide verified end-to-end encryption and has not had an independent security audit. Do not use it for sensitive communications. Read the homepage's security status for the same limits.

Are voice and video calls available?

One-to-one audio has been tested in the app's code, but work on reliability and recovery continues. Group voice has automated software tests, but has not yet been checked with real audio equipment. Voice calls are not available in a public release yet. Video calling is not available.

Downloads and source

How does the website check download links?

Before showing a download button, the site checks Vetra's official release information, the published file list, and that each link points to the expected Vetra download address. These checks confirm release details and links; they do not inspect a downloaded installer. See the homepage's download status.

Is Vetra open source?

Some client source code can be read publicly, but the project has not published an open-source license. The server software is not open source.
